A huge congratulations to not only our 2024 winners, but to everyone who took part in this year’s challenge. It was our largest and most exciting event to date, and we can’t wait to bring it back better than ever in 2025!​

SCREENING

On top of the chance to win some amazing prizes, all participants also have the chance to see their film on the big screen during the TAKE48 cinema screening!​

Important note: Whilst we are committed to expanding our screening resources as the challenge grows, due to limitations of cinema screenings, we cannot guarantee that all films submitted as part of TAKE48 will be included in the cinema screening.

 

Screening selection process - how does it work?

Our goal has always been to screen all films made as part of TAKE48, so that filmmakers can celebrate their achievement with the TAKE48 community, and their family and friends. However, as mentioned above, that is not always possible. Should we be unable to screen everything, films will be selected based of their scores from the judging criteria (see "Judges and Judging Process" section below for further details on the judging criteria).

CHALLENGE THEME

Every year, all TAKE48 participants are required to include a theme within their film. The theme includes a mystery item and line of dialogue, plus, a bonus theme that is unique to each year (e.g. genre, sound, camera move, edit technique etc).

The theme is announced via social media, email and this website, as the challenge begins.

All participants must include every theme element in their film, as they are described. Failure to do so may result in disqualification from screening and prizes, so make sure you don’t miss any of the details!​​​​

FILMMAKERS' HUB

The TAKE48 Filmmakers' Hub is made available to all TAKE48 participants. Here participants can access all the info they need, from the theme reveal, submission process information, and additional challenge details.

 

It also contains a variety of online learning resources and tools that participants can leverage to expand their filmmaking skills and to further enhance their experience of the challenge.

FILM SUBMISSION

Films must be submitted through our online portal before the challenge deadline.

Failure to submit before the deadline may result in disqualification from prizes and screening, so make sure you leave yourself enough time for submission!

 

Full film submission details, including a back-up method in case of internet issues, are shared after registration via the Filmmakers' Hub. Check your registration email for a link.

All eligible TAKE48 Entries are scored off a set criteria, which covers:​

  1. Creative use of the all the theme items (30%)

  2. Narrative elements (30%)

  3. Production elements (20%)

  4. Post-Production elements (20%)

 

Judging Process - How does it work?

  1. The SUFF & TAKE48 team narrow the entries down to the top 20.

  2. The top 20 entries are then scored by our panel of judges.

  3. Prizes are awarded based off the scores received from the judges.
